Undead at the Gate: Last Watch
The last night watch of a Highland keep. The dead come down the glen every night. Hold the gate.
Your crossbowmen fire on their own. You spend the silver they earn, raise new defenders on the wall, and call down the meteor, the bell, the frost and the horn when the horde gets thick. When the gate finally falls — and it will — you bank Bone Marks, buy permanent upgrades in the Armoury, and go again, further into the night.
The watch
**Six defenders on the wall:** crossbowmen, a ballista, a burning-oil cauldron over the gate, a ward priest, a bell tower and a fire-arrow brazier. Each levels up and chooses a path. The ballista, for example, chooses piercing bolts or chain lightning.
**Four spells:** a Meteor of Pitch, the Hallowed Toll that stuns the valley, a Frost Mist that slows it, and the Rallying Horn that doubles your rate of fire.
The dead
> - **Eight kinds of undead**, each with its own trick:
> - shamblers and runners;
> - the bloated, which burst at the gate;
> - bone archers, which shoot your watch;
> - shield-bearers;
> - grave-diggers, which tunnel under the road;
> - wraiths, which ignore the frost;
> - packs of grave-hounds.
> - **Elite undead** carry a burning aura.
> - **A boss every ten waves:** *the Flesher of Glen Dubh* and *the Grey Bride*, each with its own phases and attack.
Always something to work towards
> - **Siege upgrades** within each run: attack, defence and utility.
> - **The Armoury:** permanent upgrades bought with Bone Marks.
> - **The Scriptorium:** research that keeps running while you are away.
> - **Relics** in four rarities. Merge three of a kind to make them stronger.
> - **Call the Dawn** from wave 60: give up your Armoury for Dawnlight, a permanent boost to everything.
> - **Daily quests** and a seven-night login streak. When you come back, the watch has been earning silver while you were away.
