Congestion Charge
One cab. One shift. The whole City of London at blue hour.
Pick up fares from the kerb, get them across town before their patience runs out, and earn tips for driving like the clock is everything. Every drop-off buys you more time. When the clock hits zero, the shift is over.
THE CITY
- The real streets of the City of London and Southwark, from St Paul's to Tower Bridge, built from OpenStreetMap: every one-way street, every street name, 5,500 buildings at their real heights.
- Drive past St Paul's, Bank, Leadenhall Market, the Monument, the Gherkin, the Walkie-Talkie and the Shard, and cross the Thames on Southwark Bridge, London Bridge or right through the towers of Tower Bridge.
- Red buses, black cabs and vans keep left and obey the one-way systems.
- Blue hour on a clear evening: street lamps and headlights pool on the asphalt, office windows glow, traffic lights change at the real junctions, and police lights bounce off the Portland stone.
HOW A SHIFT WORKS
- Fares wait in glowing discs. Green is a short hop, amber is cross-town, red is a long haul with a bigger fare. They want real places: St Paul's, the Bank of England, Borough Market, the Tower of London, Liverpool Street...
- Stop inside the disc to pick up, then follow the arrow over your cab. It always points down the quickest route.
- Sharp drop-offs pay the most and add the most time to the clock.
- Near misses, drifts and driving against the traffic all earn tips. Chain them for a bigger multiplier; one crash breaks the chain.
STUNTS
- Roadworks kickers in the middle of wide streets: hit them at speed for air time and a tip.
- Café tables, chairs, bins, A-boards and cones go flying if you take a short cut across the pavement.
- Fill the boost meter by driving and earning tips, then hit Shift for a burst of speed.
FOUR CABBIES
Dele “Dash” Adeyemi, Maggie Doyle, Rocco Bellini and Nadia Shah, each with their own livery and handling: top speed, grip or pull-away. Your passengers have plenty to say about your driving.
THE POLICE
- Speed past a patrol, crash in front of them or ram a police car and the heat goes up, from one star to five.
- More cars join the chase as the heat rises. Break line of sight to lose them.
- Get boxed in and pulled over and you lose the fare, a £10 fine and 10 seconds.
